Puffing Up Superman

In Song of Solomon, in the Bible, you can hear a whole lot of horn-tooting, the amorous twitterings of two love birds. He, the smitten male, caused the musical notes to waltz amongst the stars with words that lift a woman's heart out of herself, "Behold you are fair, my love! Behold you are fair! You have dove's eyes." And her heartfelt praise joined the chorus, "Behold, you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant!" He'd toot her horn, she'd toot his, and this song of love kept them dancing!

All of this brings me to the birthday card I made for Superman.

On my way to Winco to get all the party food, I had told the Lord I wanted to make Mike a card. What should I say?

Here's what instantly came to mind....

(front)
(inside)

I propped this up on his birthday plate with his chili verde burrito. After reading it, the corners of his mouth got drawn up into a big smile as the top of his head stretched up, up, and out! Superman's ego was puffed up like a freshly-baked popover!

And that's what God intended!

You know how we wives love to hear from our husbands that we are the cutest gal in the whole wide world? Well, our men love to hear that compared to them, all men look like they have a spinach deficiency! (And if you don't get that, please go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkUXUKU8OQ

Sometimes I will buy a Big Hunk and lay it upon his pillow, telling him they named a candy bar after him. Corny, yes, but it gets the message across in a sweet way!

Anyhoo, puffing up Superman keeps the winds of love blowing!

I LOVE that card! Do you mind if I borrow that idea to use on my own hubby? His birthday isn't till the spring, so maybe I'll convert it to an anniversary card...?

I do love telling him how wonderful he is. I need to do it more often.

The "big hunk" thing was lost on me... mostly because I read it as "big Chunk"... not quite so flattering :)

That was so funny!!! No, it would not be as uplifting if the candy bar was called "Big Chunk." LOLOLOL. When my husband and I were younger, calling a guy a Hunk was like calling him Brad Pitt... or Superman! :)
