Summertime...

... and the living is ee-eaa-zzzzZzz!

I've been waiting to say that till I could actually say it with truth.

*** and today was the day  ***
 :)

When I was a young mom, my girlfriends and I would dash through our homes, getting much of our chores done before the clock struck 9ish, so that we could walk our kids to the park before the heat melted the rubber on the bottom of our tenny shoes to the asphalt. After that, we'd head out to the gigantic black-bottomed public pool, and frolic the day away, only returning for naps, dinner-fixing, and lots of contentment

laughter
                  smiles                 yakking-it-UP
                   plain ol' summertime sunshine
                                    & fun

All of this I had today. it was like a blast from the past....

house quickly tidied
yard work done before the sun rose too high
girlfriend + her kids jumping, swimming, back-diving, front-diving, hopping, splashing, laughing, shrieking, catching yay, in my pool, not the public pool yay

This is what I've been waiting for.

This is summertime!

And, now.... time for me to vacuum, iron, get dolled-up to pick up Superman from the airport.

Ahhhh, thank You, Lord, for giving us all things to enjoy!

After each big bout of coupon savings, I think to myself...
"Self, you should record all of this,
so that you can see how much all this time-consuming work earns you."

But I don't.

The best I do is unload bags and bags of my almost-free goodies and say to Superman...
"Guess how much alllllllllllll of this costs."

It's not a game he enjoys.

However, if I kept records of what I actually saved each time I was spreeing with the shopping, and could actually show him $dollar$ numbers.... Well, then, that's something his frugal, stay-out-of-debt mind could romp in.

Anyhoo, as I'm gearing up to launch another coupon-frenzied shopping trip this afternoon, I thought of you, and decided to snap a picture of what is causing plenty-o-sighing over here. (Couponing is a bit like dieting - getting there sucks; afterwards - yay!)
I'm sure that after looking at the above picture, you'd rather just hand over your hard-earned cash and never, ever, EVER touch a coupon your entire life. I would, too, if I didn't save so much!

All I have to say is that if a full-on depression (economic, not mental) comes upon us again, then I have enough deodorant, razors, shampoos and cereals for all of us (AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY A DIME FOR HARDLY ANY OF IT).

And now, I am saying to myself...
"Quit procrastinating and get those coupons ready!"

BUH-BYE!

pS.... see that $11.00 Gerber check? YEP - It's for baby formula - for me - for free! I don't drink it, lololol, but I have many friends with babies who just might (their babies, not my friends).  ag@*%blg... all this couponing is making me looney!  :)  But coupons... don't leave home without them!  :)

Prayers Go Up, Emotions Goes Down

It's not a secret!
...the title of this post is true...

Spurgeon said something like this:
"If it's worth fretting over,
it's worth praying over.
(might not be exact;it was a long time ago that I read it)

If you are anything like me, the hours spent thinking about problems & trials far outweighs the time spent in my prayer closet.
There, I said it; you can admit it too.

Enter into thy closet

Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer

I did something that seemed like a good idea at the time, but which I am now groaning over.

I invited a friend I haven't seen in a while to come over and do water aerobics with me. Not a bad idea at the time.

However...

I rode my bike almost 16 miles yesterday, then mowed our huge backyard for Superman, pruned, raked, picked garden. And my body began to rebel.

This body of mine is so sore I can barely walk.

And now I will lead my friend in water aerobics? LOL

Hmmmm... I'm thinking inflatable rafts are made for days like this! What do you think?

Have fun in the sun!  :)

Good Morning To You!!!

Though this neck of the woods gets delightfully sizzling in summer months, it's not today. It's more like beach weather, not too warm, not too cold, just right... like Goldilocks' porridge (uh, or should I say, Baby Bear's porridge??? Yep, let her who steals, steal no more! Bad Goldilocks!)

Anyhoo, having just returned from a week at the yummy coast, it was nice to return home and not be scalded to death by heat!

Besides all the normal stuff to do after a trip, I am going to do something fun TODAY.

 Q.  WANNA KNOW WHAT IT ISsss?

A. Begin posting on my other blog that has remained empty ever since I thought it up. All I will tell you about it is that it will be helpful in the exercise and diet department of our lives. Or.... I think that's the direction it will take. You never know with me! LOL  I'm just hoping I really do have the time and gumption to begin it...

I'll let you know!

Have a fun day!

Gonna Be Great!!!

Ummmm....

In order for something to be clean & organized & full of useful & functional purpose again, it has to be emptied and then filled back up... minus a lot of stuff that were fighting all of that. (Like, what I am doing in my computer room this very minute, well, back-to in the next minute, I mean.)

It will be worth it!

I can't help but think of how the Lord does this in our lives.

We become cluttered with too much stuff that doesn't need to be in there, so the Lord empties us out, and then puts back in only that which will be for His best purposes and our functional good. So...be pliable and let Him to His cleaning. The precious must be extracted from the worthless (read Jeremiah 15:19.)

It will be worth it!

Hooooray!!! School's Out For Summer!

Which means, for me --- no library sub jobs till next fall! Hoooray!!!

Let the blogging begin!!!!!! (I've missed you!!)

So... what are your summer plans????

Mine will be readying our backyard for next May's wedding! Front porch railings will have to be sanded and repainted, same with the backyard arbor and white picket pool fence. And then, there's the inside of the home painting, too. I have their wedding quilt to put together and sew, purple table toppers to cut and sew... and who knows what else! But I'm dreading none of it!

Our garden this year has acted like it's water is pure Miracle Gro (which we don't use) - our zucchini plants are so large that they are already - at the very beginning of summer - threatening to overshadow the bell peppers and basil!

I have probably given you this recipe before, but I've already had an abundance of crook neck and zukes to pick, so I've pulled it out again! We love it! Ours gets cooked out back on our BBQ (it has a thermometer), so that the heat stays outside where it belongs!  Click on the picture (maybe twice) and it will get big enough for you to read the recipe.

Till next time!!!
