Look What I Did!

I used to be afraid of applique, but ever since I took that starch-method class (for instructions, see my July 23rd blog), my needle and I have been galloping across new frontiers. My stitches are not well-hidden as primly as some of the gals' at my favorite quilt shop, but practice makes perfect! :) By the time I am done with this block-of-the-month quilt, I might be able to enter a quilt show (after typing that, this portion of an oldies song popped immediately into my head: dreamin', I'm always dreamin'...)!

Anyhoo, on this cool, almost-fallish Sunday morning, I got to thinking about all the lessons I have learned since the day I told Jesus I believed in Him as my Savior. That was in September of 1981. When I have followed the instructions God has laid in His word, the stitches are my flesh are fairly hidden, and His glory gets displayed, like the leaves on my blocks. But... when I chose to get sloppy in following those instructions, the stitches are huge and ugly and highly visible! Believe me, the seam ripper of God's mercy, grace, and forgiveness is a beloved tool!

And, one thing I know... my stitches will be totally invisible when this project called LIFE is completed, and I hear, "Well, done..."! Yahooo!

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Philippians 3:12

Great post! I love this . . . "my stitches will be totally invisible when this project called LIFE is completed. . ." What a great illustration of our lives, forgiveness, God's grace! Thanks for your encouragement!

Thanks, too, for encouraging me to continue golfing--I just may! It was more fun than I ever knew possible.
